Since the last time I wrote, we've had a lot going on.
"Auntie L"
Laura came to visit. I'm so hoping Jesse calls her Lala. :) She's so sweet to come visit. I LOVE family visitors. I love visitors of any kind. If you read this, consider it an invitation. :) But Laura is so good to come down. She's been here twice since Jesse has been born. On the list of visitors: she's our number 1. Everyone else should take notes from her. (Any family members feeling the pressure I'm putting out there? I'm ok with that.)
We had a great time! She watched Jesse, and Scott and I went to community group without Jesse for the first time since he's been born. We went to IKEA, which is always fun! We ate a Clay's, where you can pet horses and donkeys. I loved it! We went swimming, and of course ate at Lupe's. Yum!!

Some of Jesse's New Tricks
Jesse is learning some new things! :) We love every little thing.
Jesse can put his feet in his mouth. :) I love that! I was waiting to get to see this. :)
Yummy feet - and good stretching
He now raises his arms and arches his back when we're taking him out of the carseat. What a good helper!!!
When Jesse gets excited about seeing something he wants, he'll kicks his legs (surprised?) and grunt. Things he may do this for: my hairbrush, his jumparoo, food, Barry, Daddy...
Jesse doesn't need to be swaddled. I know that lots of babies aren't swaddled for long, but my little man liked it and slept wonderfully when swaddled. Now, if we try to swaddle him, he'll work to get his hands out quickly. We're still working on how he goes to bed best. It's just a transition time. :) With his arms out, Jesse's free to play! We took his bumper out, because he'd get all wrapped up in it. He loved it, but it was a sleep distraction. So it's gone. He also loves to try to play with his Pistol Pete mobile. I'm gonna be sad when that has to go... I guess the days are gone when I could swaddle my Jesse and just lay him down awake. That's just a challenge to get unswaddled then PLAY! :) Silly, sweet boy!
FOOD!
This new thing deserves it's own bold title. :) I've been excited to introduce solids, but I had decided to wait until 6 months.
If I haven't mentioned this before, I don't pretend that I know what's best for every baby, family, and mother. I'm certainly no expert on baby-raising, but I'm the best expert there is for Jesse. :) I know lots of babies get food before 6 months, and maybe I'll do things differently if we get to have another baby.
Anyhow, we made it until about 10 days until his 6th month birthday before we introduced food. (I had GREAT reasons for starting sooner. If you care to know, feel free to ask.) :) We started with rice cereal. I was prepared for anything. I know that it takes some babies a while to figure out how to use their tongues to swallow and to know what to do with food. I also know that some babies don't like rice cereal, so that was another thing I was prepared for. On the first feeding (Friday evening), Jesse did pretty good. He probably didn't ingest much, but he didn't get upset. He did some gentle blowing out once it got in his mouth. By his third effort, Jesse was eating like a pro!
First try at food
Jesse's had rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, apples, peaches, and carrots. He's a good boy about eating, and he loves his food. :) If he's tired, he's not real interested, but that's ok. He's getting to be quite the mess, though. He gets food all over his hands by touching the spoon and his mouth, then he'll rub his eyes or his hair.

Sitting...almost
We're bound and determined to learn to sit! I know not to worry too much about milestones, because I am convinced that ONE DAY Jesse will sit. I'm not at all worried that I'll have a 5 year old who can't sit up by himself. I also know that a lot of 6 month old babies are sitting. So we're working on it. Just a medical disclaimer: Jesse's fabulous pediatrician said it may take Jesse a little longer to learn to sit because he's so tall and thin. (He's 90-95% for height and 10% for weight.) That makes sense to me. :) We're still gonna work on it. Here's a couple shots I've gotten with my phone. :)
Look at me sitting!
AND down we go...
